Profile Fred Bär (1955)


Fred Bär is a payments business expert and senior executive, with a background in both general and functional management and experienced in IT-management, marketing, consulting and business development, across various industries.

His main strength is the creation and design of executable (strategic) change programs in politically and technically complex environments. He directs the execution and/or transition phases and delivers the associated business benefits. He is an excellent leader and motivator or people and maintains high quality standards in all work aspects.


He worked for both large multinational corporations and medium sized companies. In November 2006 he started FBBM bv, a consultancy service for the international payments market.

From 1999-2006 he was a vice-president at Interpay (Equens), the largest Dutch payment processor. He served a.o. as chairman of the European Automated Clearing House Association. Before Equens he fulfilled management  roles at Royal Dutch Shell (1981-1990), Digital Equipment Corporation (1990-1996) and KPN Mobile Telecom (1996-1999).

Fred Bär holds a degree in Econometrics/Monetary Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is a Dutch national,  is married and has four children.
